More Road Trip

   Posted by: John    in Pictures

I spent the last couple of days in Twin Falls.  Since I was there overnight I took the opportunity to go to Shoshone Falls, just up the road a few miles from downtown.  I was not sure what to expect, but here it is.  Click to embiggen.

The Falls, the whole Falls, and nothing but the Falls

Northern part

Middle part

Southern part and up the canyon

Looking down the canyon

Building at the foot of the falls

It's a tree

Big rock

Little falls

Another little falls

Not sure, but it kindof looks like a beaver.

Paying close attention

There were several of them around

Not a mushroom cloud...just sun and a cloud

Excitement

Wet Plants

Of course, what we got on this first day of Spring was this:

Yuck!

And note the predicted high temperature of 50, when in reality we will be lucky to get to 40 before the sun sets.

Earlier, the road to Ontario was mostly white, 25 mph wind, and the snow was going sideways.

But you won’t be able to prove it with rain and snow in the forecast.

I had to drive to Gooding today, but came back via Twin Falls.  I wanted to get some pictures of the canyon.  Click to embiggen.

Erasers

Posted by: John    in Not So Funny Stuff

I was out at a client this week and there were these erasers for sale in the school library.  I couldn’t help it…had to get some of them.

Money Erasers

It occurred to me that the pResident and the congress are the biggest money erasers in the history of the world.  Thanks a lot you worthless pukes!

A Scottish Story

Posted by: John    in Fun Stuff

As a bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a paupers’ cemetery in the back country. As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost and, being a typical man, I didn’t stop for directions.

I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch.

I felt badly and apologized to the men for being late. I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn’t know what else to do, so I started to play.

The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played out my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends. I played like I’ve never played before for this homeless man.

And as I played ‘Amazing Grace,’ the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, we all wept together.

When I finished I packed up my bagpipes and started for my car. Though my head hung low, my heart was full.

As I opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, “I never seen nothin’ like that before and I’ve been putting in septic tanks for twenty years.”

LOL of the Day

You may be familiar with this product…the Segway.

Not for the balance challenged

I ran across a drawing of the prototype.

Good luck with that
